Welcome to the Integrative Medicine Clinic! My name is Inna Melnikov, founder of the clinic. I am licensed as an acupuncturist in the State of Illinois, DACM (Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine) candidate, and have been a practitioner of Integrative Medicine for 30 years. I work as a site visitor for the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM).
I started practicing Integrative Medicine in 1988 at one of the large outpatient hospital clinics in Moscow, Russia. While working there, I traveled with a group of doctors to practice Integrative Medicine in the Caucasus mountain region, Northern Russia, and Siberia. For my achievements in developing and implementation of Integrative Medicine in Russia, I was awarded membership in the Russian Academy of Sciences in 1991. It was formative time for me, and I learned a lot. More learning followed when I moved to the United States in 1992.
I studied Western Medical Sciences at the National University of Health Sciences, and Eastern Medical Sciences at the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine. Now I have been accepted as a doctoral candidate to the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. After many years working in private practice, I felt that I'd like to share my knowledge. As a faculty member of Northwestern University and a clinic supervisor at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, I got the chance to do that. I spent seven years working at PCOM, and later started conducting post-graduate seminars at my alma-mater, National University of Health Sciences. Now, I enjoy the best of both worlds by teaching Medical Doctors, Doctors of Chiropractic, Licensed Acupuncturists, and treating my patients with Acupuncture and Chinese Pharmaceutical Herbs. There's also a third side. I also play violin, guitar, sing, write and record music. I love jogging along the lake front in Evanston, swimming during the summer time, and sailing with the Northwestern University Sailing Center during the summer. I write about Chicago Architecture and music at America Illustrated Magazine. I am the wife of an architect. In the world of serious people, I am known for my advocacy for the health policy change and fighting for environmental health and eliminating environmental hazards at home. Eastern Philosophy and practice of Oriental Medicine are important parts of my life. I owe a lot to my family, mentors, teachers, colleagues, patients, and friends for sharing with me the love for what I do. I am looking forward to the opportunities to give it back. Thank you, and love to all!
James L. "Inna and I met in 2006 when I was struggling with my medical and emotional issues. She introduced me to acupuncture treatment which provided support for both areas of health improvement. After ten years, I continue to utilize the lessons I learned from her to sustain a quality life. She was an immense help to me!!!"
Amy D. "After fracturing my fibula, I was treated by an orthopedic doctor. After several weeks and rounds of X-Rays, the doctor stated that my bone was not healing and suggested surgery "that may or may not" work. Instead, I sought the help of Inna who used several different acupuncture techniques to increase circulation, heal the bone and aid my relaxation. Ultimately, at my last X-Ray, the orthopedic doctor was amazed, and stated that the bone had started to fuse. Inna is an intelligent, intuitive and caring practitioner."
